JIMMY PAGE: 2009 Photo Print To Be Archived At National Portrait Gallery In London
May 9, 2012A limited-edition print of LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page, photographed in 2009 by Ross Halfin, has become the 100,000th portrait to be archived at the prestigious National Portrait Gallery in London. The photograph forms part of a limited edition portfolio of five fine art prints signed by Jimmy Page and each respective photographer: Jorgen Angel in Copenhagen 1970, Dick Barnatt at Earls Court Arena 1975, Neal Preston at Chicago Stadium 1977 and Baron Wolman at Oakland Coliseum, California 1977. All five fine art prints have recently been added to the National Portrait Gallery's collection.
The National Portrait Gallery began digitizing its collection in 1996 in order to make its portraits available online, with Jimmy Page's portrait achieving the 100,000 milestone earlier this month.
